Flashknockdown.com began under the leadership of boxing historian Raymond Markarian. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History and wrote a thesis on the Political Effect of Black Heavyweight Boxers in the 20th century.

After sending his thesis to a number of boxing publications and newspapers, Markarian quickly earned recognition as a freelance boxing journalist/historian. In January 2008, Raymond Markarian became a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America.
